Charles Dickens started ‘A Tale of Two Cities’ with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times”.
Make it the best of times for your blog marketing efforts.
1, Use WordPress as your blogging platform. WordPress is the most respected blogging platform by the search engines right out of the box.
2. Help the SEO efforts by using HeadSpace2 – the best plugin for SEO.
3. Use keywords in your titles, your opening line and in the body of your blog posts. Don’t overdo it – the search engines will know – but if you keep your posts tightly focused you will naturally use your keywords in the body.
4. Post often – several times a week. Don’t have time? Set aside some time once a week and write your posts in advance. Use the built in feature of WordPress to schedule your posts to appear on your blog whenever you want them to appear.
5. Have a call to action in every post. That doesn’t mean trying to sell something in every post – a call to action can be as simple as asking your readers to opt-in for something or asking them to leave a comment.
Don’t make it the worst of times for your blog marketing efforts.
1. Don’t wander in your posts. Pick one subject and stick to it. If you have other things to say, write another post.
2. Make your title sparkle – your readers decide immediately if they want to read your post by the title.
3. Don’t make your posts too long – if they are long, use the ‘more’ tag to break them up.
4. Don’t be boring! Give your readers GREAT content.
5. Don’t make it difficult for your reader to read your posts. Use white space, bullets, quotes. Make your post ’scannable’ – your readers will probably read every word if they don’t have to work at it.
