How to Make a Website Fast and Easy

1:30 pm by admin. Filed under: Internet And Businesses Online

Anyone can make a website these days using the services and products readily available to us all. But for a first-time web master, it can be a slow and frustrating process, as you figure out how everything works, what is compatible with what else and how everything slots together.

A simple website can easily go from nothing to a finished, published site in less than a day *if* you know what you’re doing. Otherwise it can take weeks if not longer – and that assumes you get finished at all!

So in this article we’re not just going to look at how to make a website, we’re going to be more specific and consider how to make a website fast and easy so you can get your site online sooner rather than later.

Okay, well the good news is that with all the software and services around at the moment there is a greater chance to make a website fast and easy than ever before.

Let’s take a look at some of the resources that will help you achieve this…

1) WordPress

You can use WordPress software free of charge to make a blog super-fast. Within minutes you’ll have a basic website set up for you to tweak when you have time. Add some articles and you’re done.

2) Blogger

Google’s offering for bloggers offers a similar service to WordPress though differs being easier to use but less fully-featured.

3) Nvu

Nvu free web design software lets you make a website easily on your home computer without splashing out cash.

4) Free Website Templates

Whether you decide to make a website from scratch using software like Nvu or using an online blogging solution like WordPress or Blogger you will be able to find a host of free site templates that you can either use as-is , or modify to perfectly suit your needs.

A quick search in your favorite search engine will likely turn up hundreds of sites listing these template files.

5) CoolText

Allows you to create your own logo free of charge. Just visit the site, type in your website name, select the color, the font and so on and out pops your finished logo. What’s more, they look great!

6) Royalty Free Images

Websites like IstockPhoto allows you to get royalty-free images to use on your website so you can add professionally-photographed pictures, animations and cartoons to your site, without breaking the bank or risking a letter from a solicitor.

7) Low Cost Web Hosting

There is plenty of competition in the market now for web hosting. If you’re wondering how to make a website fast and easy, then select a budget web hosting company to host your site. Then consider using WordPress or Blogger to actually build a site, together with a free template to give it a professional look. You can be set up for under $5 a month with this solution, including your own website address.

The end result is fantastic and it’s quick and easy to set up. This is my own personal favourite technique for making a website fast.

How to Get Started With a New Blog and Blog Designs

12:39 am by admin. Filed under: Internet And Businesses Online

There are a couple things that every blogger must do when first getting started. No matter if you are blogging for fun or for profit follow these steps to get your blog started off on the right foot.

One – Spend some time configuring every part of your blog. There’s nothing worse than having done 99% of the work, only to be let down by the final 1%. To make sure that your blog will get the most traffic possible make sure you read over all the options and fill in all the forms in your admin panel. This includes any profile fields and any plugin information that is needed. Many plugins require you to fill in a lot of information before you can even use them. You may want to read the documents on WordPress.org so you know the best ways to fill everything out.

Two – Set up your blog designs. You can pick one of the themes that everyone else has and upload it. But making your blog stand out from the rest is extremely helpful in keeping your visitors coming back. Plus when you design it yourself you will get a feeling of ownership and it will make it easier for you to work on it. Another reason you may want to use a custom blog design is because it keeps your blog from looking like spam. Most spam bloggers do not customize their blogs at all but the ones that do just use templates and they fill in as little personal info as possible.

Three – Content, content and more content. You will want to start writing your posts as soon as possible. You do not have to publish them all at once but just write five posts to start then set up auto posting for every other day or so. One of the biggest things that Google looks at, when ranking your site, is how often you have new content. Also be sure you use your keywords in your title and at least once within the first paragraph. Then once you have your five posts written create your categories so the your posts are easy to find.

Four – Promote your content. After you have written a good amount of content you will need to promote that content. There are lots of ways to do this and it could take you a long time if you were to try them all. Just focus on the ones that will bring you the most traffic. I would recommend adding a plugin like Sexy Bookmarks so that your readers can submit your content to bookmarking sites. This will save you time and give you a great traffic boost. Another important form of promotion is article marketing. You should write a couple of articles and submit them to sites like EzineArticles, Squidoo or Hub Pages. You can also submit your site to a bunch of search engines and directories. This can take a lot of time but it is free and can bring you a lot of traffic.

Five – have fun! This is the most important thing of all. Just have fun with blogging because if you enjoy writing your blog posts it is very likely that your readers will enjoy it as well. So just have some fun with it.

Blogging, ultimately, is about connecting with your readers and gaining an audience for your work. It also allows you to express yourself, make friends, and help people by sharing your expertise. Even if you are blogging for your business it is still all about connecting. So go out and connect with your readers!

Church Websites – Using WordPress to Get Visitors at Your Church

7:10 am by admin. Filed under: Internet And Businesses Online

Most church websites are lame. Why? While 65% of Churches now have a site, most of these drive little to no visitors to their churches. This is a missed opportunity, since the vast majority of people under 35 go to the internet not the Yellow Pages FIRST when looking for a church. So what good is having a church website if only the pastor and the board surfs to it? I think you no the answer to that one.

The major problem is that most church websites are not search engine friendly. And if you’re is not listed high in places like Google and Yahoo, you will get no traffic. And no traffic means no guests checking out your place of worship on Sunday.

The solution to the “church website blues” is to get your website search engine optimized (SEO) so that seekers can actually find your church web site when do a search for a place of worship in your area. How do you do this? The answer is simple. Use a blog like WordPress to run your church website. Based on our own own personal experiences as a Christian webmaster and church planter, I have had several blogging websites (including this one) using blogging tools like WordPress that have had tremendous success attracting and keeping guests. Isn’t that what a church website should be all about? Below we list several great reasons (I could have listed more) why a church should use a blog format for its church website .

WordPress comes free with many inexpensive affordable web hosting packages. So why spend hundreds and even thousands of dollars on church website designs when you have at your fingertip a blogging platform like this? Most all of the cheap web hosting providers (average cost between $4 and $8 dollars per month) give you access to WordPress through Fantastico in their control panels. Please think twice before signing a web hosting contract with a Christian web hosting company.

Not a techie? No problem because WordPress is a one click installation with Fantastico. No HTML or PHP knowledge needed. Writing content and putting in images is just like using your old fashioned word processor. If you need help with your blogging church website, there are tons of WordPress tutorials and an amazing support forum as well.

The really cool thing about WP is that it functions as a content management system (CMS), which simply means that you can give it the appearance of a regular Church website, while reaping all the benefits a blog (see below) brings to the table. WordPress has hundreds and hundreds of free templates (they call them themes) to choose from for making your church website have the exact look and feel you want.

Another reason to use WP is that it makes your site Search Engine Optimized Out of the Box. That’ means way better search engine rankings…which means…you got it more visitors coming to your church website…which means more guests at your services. You don’t need to know ANYTHING about how search engines work because WordPress “pings” the search engines automatically for you, letting them know you have new content and RSS feeds for them to index. Furthermore, instead of waiting weeks and even months for the search engines spiders from Yahoo and Google to index your static church website pages, your blog will get indexed in a matter of a few days.

Most church websites out there just ooze old…and irrelevant. Blogs are the here and now, and using one as a church website will convey newness, hipness and relevancy to the young families, the Gen X and Gen Y types you should be targeting if you want to reach people for Jesus AND see your church to grow. OK, I promised I wouldn’t preach.

WordPress plugins like PodPress make it a snap to put all kinds of multi-media on your church website without any added costs and very little knowledge needed. Imagine having all your messages neatly indexed, categorized and online for all to enjoy. I actually have a few podcasts right here on my site. Believe me, it’s not rocket science. If I can do it…a monkey can as well :) Using multimedia like a podcasts you will geometrically grow your ministry reach. On my other Christian outreach site (see our about page) that’s less than 2 years old, I already reach 90,000 people a month. Are we excited yet?

How to Get the Blogging Your Church Website? Actually all you need to do is shop around for and affordable and reliable web hosting company that has blogging tools like WordPress.Good luck.

Become a Great Blogger

1:45 pm by admin. Filed under: Internet And Businesses Online

Creating a blog can be the best thing you do for your website or business. First it can create traffic for you very quickly, and in many cases can create a nice income for you too. It’s just a matter of learning how to become a successful blogger.

Blogs are very popular, and if you haven’t started one then you are probably missing a lot of readers who have like interests with you. Internet users love to read blogs and love to come back to blogs to see what’s need. Search engines also love blogs. Google and Yahoo realized that blogs have the most current content on the web and that content is continually changing. These tips will help you learn how to create a blog and avoid technical problems when blogging.

Decide on the best Blogger Platform – First you need to decide which blogging platform you are going to use. You can either use Blogger or WordPress. There is a lot of competition between the two platforms and each has its own advantages. The best way to decide is to go to the sites and see which gives you the most benefits. You can always change your content from one platform to the other at a different time.

Find your passion and you will find your Blog – Choosing your platform is half the job, but you also need to decide on what you will blog about, so you need to choose a subject that you truly like, because this is what you will be writing about, and answering questions to. A blog is like a daily newspaper so it needs to be about something you want to learn about and write about.

Be passionate and love what you are blogging about. This is the key to making your blog interesting and keeping you working at it. If you don’t choose something that you are interested in, then you wont keep your readers interest and you will lose interest in it too.

Be one of the best – There are lots of bloggers out there but there are some that make between four and five figures a month and you can do the same with effort. You have to become well known among bloggers and you need to have the information that people want.

Getting the Blog up is just the start- getting the blog up is fairly easy compared to all the other work that needs to be done. The work comes when you stat putting the blogs, pictures and information on the site. This is like your own journal and you need to post very often for the blog to be successful.

When you own a blog you will need to learn to increase your traffic – getting it up is easy but you will need to learn how to create traffic or your blog will flounder out there. Learning how to create traffic for yourself takes time and you will need to learn how to use new tools, and read as much about your subject and how to create traffic.

3 Ways to Make Money With Your Blog

4:27 pm by admin. Filed under: Internet And Businesses Online

If you would like to start bringing in money just by running your own blog you may want to consider these money making ideas:

1. If you do not mind posting small reviews of products on your blog, then payperpost.com may be enticing to you. You just sign up with them and they will provide you with links to promote to your blog. Once they verify that you have placed the link in a post, they pay you, it’s that easy.

2. One of the biggest moneymakers these days for Webmasters is placing Google adsense ads on their sites and blogs. If you have a WordPress blog, then all you have to do is download the plug-in through a site like wordpress-plugins.biggnuts.com and sign up for Google adsense. Once you are ready to go you just plug-in a small code that Google gives you and you will get paid every time someone clicks on the ads.

3. Another very popular ways to make money with your blog or website is by promoting affiliate links. Affiliate links are provided by companies that will pay you a certain percentage of each sale made through your unique link. Just go to any popular company website and sign up for their affiliate or partner program. Most of them are free to sign-up and very easy to implement.

The above techniques can really bring in a nice extra income if your blog is getting daily visitors. Don’t let the potential pass by. You can continue to enjoy posting on your blog and enjoy some extra money at the same time.

Alternatively, you can refer others to Google adsense and various affiliate programs and get paid for that as well. There is an unlimited income potential for those willing to take action and implement these moneymakers.

If this sounds appealing, but you do not have any visitors coming to your blog, then start promoting it. Blog promotion is very easy and anyone can do it. Just do a Google search for ‘blog directory’ and post your blog to as many as possible. Go to OnlyWire.com and social bookmark every post you make. Just using these two promotion techniques can drive a lot of targeted traffic to your blog.

How to Start a Blog That Makes Money

5:59 am by admin. Filed under: Internet And Businesses Online

Here’s how to have a blog that makes money. As with virtually everything else in Internet marketing having a blog that makes you money is a combination of the two main Internet marketing ingredients; targeted traffic and a good, compelling offer. You can start your blog for free using blogger or one of the other free blogging platforms out there, but I don’t recommend it for two main reasons.

The first reason that I would eschew free blogging platforms, such as Blogger, is that when your blog is hosted on Blogger, the domain, traffic and content is theirs, not yours. Google, who owns Blogger, really doesn’t need any more free hands up, do they?

The second reason that you should steer clear of free blog hosting platforms when you’re building your blog empire business is that, because of the first reason, you’re not building your business, you’re actually helping to build someone else’s.

The first thing you should do when starting a blog that you hope will bring in a healthy income for you one day is actually plan things out. That’s right; you should actually sit down for a few hours and make a business plan. That will help make sure you don’t miss any of the details you’ll need to be successful. Be sure you include everything, such as what the main theme of your blog will be, the monetization strategies you’ll use, a financial plan, a growth plan, and an oft forgotten part of many business plans, the exit strategy.

Most highly successful blogs are tightly themed. That means they focus closely on a certain subject or niche, such as local residential real estate, working from home income techniques, ’60′s muscle cars, or needlepoint. This focus will help you build a core base of loyal readers and subscribers. These are very important for the immediate and long term success of your blog. In addition, having a large, vibrant subscriber list adds a large amount of value to your blog should you want to sell it. If you’re having trouble choosing a theme, look for one with a large profit potential. There will be more on this later.

Decide on what you’ll call your blog and get your own domain name. These are very affordable, and will help you sidestep the problems of using a free hosting platform. You will own the domain and will be free to do with it as you please. You blog will actually be an asset that you control.

The next decision you’ll have to make is what blogging platform you’ll use. The two largest are Movable Type and WordPress. WordPress is open source, meaning basically it’s free. Because it’s open source, many developers freely create things for WordPress, so there are a huge number of add-ons, widgets, templates, and plugins available for it. You can even publish your WordPress blog from your iPhone now!

Movable type is not open source, but you may still be able to get it free, as many web hosting companies offer it as part of the hosting package. It too has many different things available to enhance the functionality and appearance of blogs published with it. I’ve used both frequently. You can have many fantastic, and profitable blogs with either publishing system.

So you’ve got your blog up and you’re posting to it with reckless abandon. How can you make some money for your efforts? That’s sort of a balancing act. You want to blog about a topic that interests you, or keeping up an aggressive posting schedule will become very difficult. You also want to blog about a topic that is profitable, or you won’t make any money.

To help find what blog subjects can earn you some decent profits, head to Google and see what keywords are going for these days. Use the free Google keyword tool in Google Adwords. You can type in keywords and keyword phrases and the tool will show an estimate of cost per click that advertisers are willing to pay for ads targeting a given keyword or phrase, and an idea of the number of advertisers that are advertising using them.

Keywords that are relatively expensive and have substantial competition mean that many advertisers are willing to pay fairly large amounts of money for those keywords. In theory that means that there is profit to be made by creating content that features those keyword phrases.

Remember that it is only an idea, and there are two schools of thought on earning money from your blog. You can try to find a narrow niche with little competition, and dominate it. The other approach is to head to a very large, but profitable niche and try to get enough traffic to skim some profit from the niche. Basically you’ll either a small fish in an ocean, or a large fish in a pond. There are successful bloggers using both strategies.

Next you’ll want to decide on a monetization strategy for your blog. In most cases you’ll use a combination of them to bring home the bacon. The three main strategies are:

1) Sales of your own products or services
2) Affiliate marketing
3) Advertising. This is usually contextual advertising, but some bloggers are successful with other forms, such as banner ads.

With affiliate marketing you’ll be paid a commission for referring a visitor to a company’s site. If the person you referred does the desired action you’ll earn your commission. In the majority of cases the desired action means the visitor buys something, or fills out a lead form.

Contextual advertising automatically places ads on your site that are targeted to your site by the context of your site. The ad publishers have algorithms that look at your blog and decide which of their advertiser’s ads would best go with your blog’s content. In most cases, you’re then paid a percentage of the advertising fee when one of your visitors clicks on the link in the ad. This is known as pay per click advertising. The leader is this is Google, with their AdWords / AdSense program.

To have a blog that makes money, you need to have targeted traffic, the more the better. That is largely a function of the content. A large amount of good, original content (not content scraped form other blogger’s RSS feeds). Some on page search engine optimization techniques won’t hurt either, but good, high quality content will get you both search engine visitors, and repeat traffic from people that just want to read your stuff.

Make sure you target the proper keywords in your posts and post titles. You’re looking for profitable keywords that have relatively low competition. By optimizing for words and phrases people are actively searching for, you’ll do better in the search engine rankings, and you’ll be giving your readers exactly what they were looking for. That double whammy is a true recipe for blog money making success.
